per person

The Flight of the Condor & Glacial Lake Humantay tour was designed with the nature lover in mind. It features easy to moderate walks combined with comfort and relaxation at our luxurious Pincopata Ecocamp. The trip offers the chance to visit the Killarumiyoq archaeological site where the lunar cycle was charted and fertility rites honoring Mother Earth were performed during the height of the Inca civilization. Incredibly, the moonstone remains untouched and the peaceful site offers the chance to gain a deeper understanding of the Inca culture.

Throughout the trip we will be surrounded by breathtaking scenery. In Chonta, we’ll have a great view of the Limatambo Valley. In the Apurimac Canyon, we’ll have the opportunity to observe the flight of the condor and enjoy extraordinary panoramic views of two of the most sacred mountains in the Andes: Salkantay and Humantay. We will also visit the glacial lake of Humantay, a truly stunning sight. At our Pincopata Ecocamp, we’ll experience luxurious accommodation and typical Andean food prepared using local ingredients.

Optional activities such as massages, mountain biking, and horse riding are also available at extra cost.

Day 1: Cusco – Chonta - Pincopata Ecocamp

Our journey begins with an 8:30 am hotel pick-up and a drive north of Cusco towards Limatambo. On the way, we’ll visit the Killarumiyoq archaeological site before arriving at the small village of Chonta. Here is where we begin our one hour hike towards the condor viewing point. As most tourists don't arrive until late afternoon, we are guaranteed to enjoy the spectacles of the canyon in peace with little or no company. As we settle down to observe the magnificent condors soaring across the canyon, we can nourish ourselves with a specially prepared boxed lunch.

After plenty of time admiring the giants of the sky, the wind and cold may begin to infringe at which point we will start our return hike to the village of Chonta. Our private transport will be awaiting to take us to Pincopata Ecocamp. Upon arrival to the camp, you will have time to settle into your geodesic dome and take a hot shower or indulge in the opportunity for our optional massage. Those who still have some energy can explore the property and enjoy its beautiful surroundings. We will finish the day with a fabulous dinner prepared from locally sourced foods.

After breakfast, we’ll drive from Pincopata to the Soray Ecocamp where we will be presented with glorious views of the snow-capped peaks of the Salkantay and Humantay mountains. A welcoming tea will be awaiting us at Soray. We soon begin our hike to the glacial lake of Humantay, which will take one to two hours depending on pace. When we arrive, we will have plenty of time to enjoy the breathtaking scenery stretching across the colorful waters of the lake to the glacier that towers above.
