Claudio Maqque Valdez

Claudio was born in 1982, in the town of Pomocanchi, Acomayo, south of Cuzco. At age 16 Claudio found employment in a small guest house in Central Cusco. Here he met tourists for the first time and began to imagine a career in Tourism. He pursued his dream at the Universidad Nacional San Antonio Abad del Cusco, graduating (Licenciado /BA) in Tourism, with continuing studies in English and German in private language schools. Now a full-time guide, Claudio is delighted to share his knowledge of the rich natural and cultural history of Peru, as well as his intimate knowledge of its diverse traditional and modern cultures.

Ruben Rodriguez

Ruben was born in Cusco. He was raised in both the mountains and jungles of Peru. Having completed his high school education in Cusco, his love for the culture and people of the city led him to study history at Cusco University. Having completed his university studies, he went on to study to become a tour guide at the Cusco Technical School. He has been working as a guide for more than 10 years and really loves to guide people towards a better understanding of his city and culture, as well as guiding some of the region’s finest trekking routes.

Juan Barrios

Juan is a native of Cusco. He studied tourism at Cusco University and is particularly interested in the technology employed by the Incas. He also studied the Quechua language in order to better understand Andean culture. As a lover of adventure trips, Juan has worked for many years as a rafting and climbing guide, and he has led groups throughout Peru as well as many other parts of South America for over 30 years. He is open-minded, has a good sense of humor, and enjoys meeting new people from all over the world and introducing them to the history, nature, and culture of his country.

Edwin Huaman

Edwin was born in the Sacred Valley, in Urubamba. He studied in the Institute Khipu in Cusco and speaks Spanish, Quechua and English a little bit of German. Edwin has been working as a guide since 2005, and guided different tours like the Salkantay trek, Chiquequirao trek, Inka trail, the sacred valley, Machu Picchu and many more. He truly loves to share the greatness of Peru with the visitors from all over the world. He is very passionate about all aspects of nature Inca sites. Edwin is also certified NOLS Wilderness Advanced First Aid guide.

Johann Muñoz

Johann Muñoz was born in Cusco and is 35 years old. He has studied Tourism and English. Besides being in the mountains, Johann loves playing soccer and reading. He started working as a guide in the mountains because he is very passionate about being in contact with Pachamama, the Apus and nature in general. Sharing the culture of his country makes him feel proud and he is always excited to meet new people.

Miguel García Martínez

Miguel García Martínez, was born in Quillabamba. At a very young age, he became interested in nature. His passion for birds led him to go into Hummingbird and Antbirds projects. He made many trips to different places to go birdwatching. Miguel worked for many years as a guide in the Manu National Park and has extensive knowledge in recognizing the vocalization of birds. Miguel also lived many years in the jungle, which makes his experience as a birdwatching guide highly qualified.

Whilder Alarico Valenzuela

Whilder, born in Cusco, is a professional tour adventure guide, who developed many different ways to entertain and educate with a lot of passion in each and every tour group. He studied tourism and speaks fluent English and Quechua. His hobbies are spending time with his family, reading, soccer and hiking. He has been working as a guide for about 15 years and specializes in hiking and exploring routes around Cusco. He loves sharing his knowledge about culture, history and traditions.

Raul Montes Rodriguez

Raul is the founder and owner of Peru Ecocamp. He started his career in tourism in 1987, and obtained his degree in tourism at Cusco’s Andina University and qualified as a mountain guide with the IFMGA (International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations). Raul has been leading trips for more than 28 years, during which time he has pioneered a number of routes. He decided to start Peru’s very first EcoCamp, accommodating guests in luxury dome tents and focusing on nature conservation.

Miguel Montes Rodriguez

Miguel, brother of Raul, graduated his bachelor of military science with a major in engineering. Internal protection, Intelligence, Safety & Security and Rescue. At Peru Ecocamp, he works as a logistics and human resources manager.
