Why Peru Ecocamp?
We understand how hard it is to book the right agency for the trip of a lifetime.
Therefore, the main reasons why Peru Ecocamp offers the best experience are listed here.
The tour began with a pick up from the hotel in Cusco by the wonderful and knowledgeable guide who first took us to the ancient ruins of Killarumiyoc. This Inca... read more site is a fascinating stop as it is less visited than many other sites in the area so you are guaranteed peace to take in the ruins and you can take pictures of the incredible terraces and the moon rock which was where the Incas charted the lunar cycle. The drive to the start of our hike at Chonta offered stunning views across the valley towards the Salkantay Mountain. Once at Chonta, we packed away the lunch box filled with a pasta salad, a sandwich, fruit and other snacks and set off on our one hour hike. Despite the stunning views of the rocky peaks of the canyon and the crystal waters of the Apurimac River, the path is still relatively unvisited so the condor viewpoint and lunch spot promises to be tranquil. The Andean condors began to appear one by one in the early afternoon and we watched the juveniles from above and admired the 3 metre wingspan of the adults from below.
After the one hour hike back to the car it is then an hour drive to Pincopata EcoCamp. We were greeted by a delicious fresh juice and fried potato chips which were dug up from the ground an hour before our arrival! We had time to relax and enjoy the beauty of the camp including greeting the horses and looking around the vegetable garden. At around 7 o’clock a delicious three course dinner is served in the beautifully decorated dining room. The locally sourced meals are all inspired by Peruvian dishes and are perfectly paired with the local wines and beer offered by the camp. During dinner the helpful staff light the wood-burning fires in the domes and place hot-water bottles in the cosy beds. There is also a fire pit at the top of the camp which is the perfect place to admire the clear country sky and gaze at the stars.
After a wonderful night’s sleep in the stunning domes a hot shower is the perfect way to start the day- you can even play music in hot the shower via a Bluetooth connection! The breakfast consists of fresh juice and a selection of tea and coffee. Having filled up on a variety of fruits, home-made jams and eggs we set off for another beautiful drive towards the second EcoCamp at Soray where we began our hike to the Glacial Lake. It began with a fair climb up a private path which is reserved solely for Peru EcoCamp and one other company. The views up to Humantay Mountain are breathtaking and the final ascent is well worth the climb when the Lake comes into view and the special path rewards Peru EcoCamp passengers with exclusive views from above. As this tour begins before all other trekking companies, we were among the first to reach the lake. There are several routes back down amongst the private land and you can therefore take an alternative route back through the wooded-tree area which offers welcome shade from the late-morning sun. After a lovely cup tea at Soray we went back to the Pincopata EcoCamp where a beautifully presented, tasty meal was ready for us hungry adventurers. We relaxed in the sun and digested the delicious meal before setting off on the two hour trip back to Cusco.
This tour defines ‘glamping’ as it offers the perfect opportunity to experience the road less travelled from the comfort of the geodesic domes at the EcoCamp and fine-dining with an eco-conscious company who support the local communities and environment. The staff are all so incredibly helpful and the guides have unrivalled knowledge of the local flora and fauna and the local history and culture!

My partner and me visited for the Humantay hiking and stayed in the domes for one night.
The view from the dome was the most amazing thing. You didn’t... read more even had to come out of bed to see it. I highly recommend to be awake for the sunset. Just perfect.
On the other side. This place is so cold. The heating they offer consists of a small gas powered machine that you have to turn off when you go to sleep because of the risk of generating a fire. Even with the heater on, you had to be close to it to warm yourself a bit, everything else was like touching ice. Also, the “hot” water was lukewarm at most and you had to tell the staff to turn it on 30 minutes before showering.
They offered wifi for an extra fee.
The food was included but it wasn’t good at all. For dinner, they gave us an instant soup and for lunch, a piece of meat as thin as cloth.
Overall, the landscape view was worth it but only for one night.

My wife and I went on an 8 day excursion with Peru Ecocamp and our experience was nothing short of magical. The guides with us perfectly chose exciting routes with... read more stunning views and rich history. One of the highlights of the entire experience was the details that went into every aspect of the trip, from incredible lodging & food, to our guides knowing exactly where & when to go to avoid massive crowds. Each night arriving to a secluded camp completely exhausted from the day of hiking 15K ft peaks or down through jungles was a thrill.
Overall, we were immersed in challenging hikes by day and fantastic accommodations by night and the pleasure of working with GENUINE people who truly wanted nothing short of us having an amazing trip together.
Already referring friends/ family. If this style of trip is of interest, THIS is the group to go with.

While planning our vacation to South America my wife and I had signed for the Peru Eco Camp 5 day package. While we felt it was a little expensive at... read more the time of booking but once we started all our doubts were laid to rest.
Each detail of the entire experience was amazing.
We were extremely delighted at how smoothly & professionally everything was managed from a logistics point of view (transport, stay, food etc). The campsites and the domes are incredible and extremely luxurious. The cherry on top was a stay at the Inca Terra Machu Pichu which was an extremely pleasant surprise for us.
Each day was thoughtfully planned and the places they took us to extremely off the beaten track and we had enough and more time to enjoy the beauty that Peru has to offer.
The entire right from Wilder (our amazing guide) to the teams at the campsites were very friendly and helped us enjoy our stay all the more.
A special shout out to the team for also handling some small hiccups which were due to the altitude and ensured that we get proper medical care (the guide is trained in first aid and they have all relevant equipment at the campsites).
To summarize it was a great decision to go with Peru Eco Camp and I highly recommend them.

We recently returned from a fantastic, 7-day trek of the Salkantay Pass with Peru Ecocamp. The domes were great—spacious, comfortable, hot showers, and several with fire places. We were very... read more impressed by the chefs too, who prepared phenomenal Peruvian meals in incredibly remote areas using local ingredients and recipes. We always had more than enough to eat and the food was delicious. All of the logistics were seamless and our bags were either driven to our camps or transported by horse so that we didn’t need anything more than a daypack. The views and scenery on this trek were amazing and better than we could have ever imagined. While Machu Picchu was of course a true highlight, we saw beautiful things every day along the way. A key highlight of our trip was our fantastic guide, Edwin. He was incredibly knowledgeable of the Incan. culture, customs, and history. We learned so much from him in just 7 days. He was attentive and did everything possible to make sure we had a good trip. Edwin was a true pleasure to travel with too. In addition to his broad knowledge base, he had a great sense of humor and always kept us laughing. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. We’ve traveled on other guided trips and Edwin is a class above anyone we’ve ever worked with. We met the owner of Peru Ecocamp, Raul, during our trip and he was very hospitable and friendly. It is clear he takes a great deal of pride in this company and wants to make sure guests have the absolute best trip possible. Thank you Edwin, Raul, and the rest of the Peru Ecocamp for such a memorable and fantastic trip!

The dinners with Peru Ecocamp are, without hesitation, a highlight on the tours. We use local, fresh and organic ingredients and have our own vegetable gardens. Healthy, warming and delicious 3-course meals will be served in the dinner domes. Water, coffee and tea are available at any time.
Forget leaking tents and freezing nights. Our domes are all equipped with everything you need for superior comfort. Next to the wooden stove and fuzzy blankets, you will find a hot water bottle tucked under your sheets before you go to bed to keep you warm at night.
Many guides working for regular companies do not get officially paid and have to live from the tips they are given at the end of the tours. Peru Ecocamp supports the guides and local communities by paying fair wages.
It happens a lot that agencies put you together with other agencies in one big group: sometimes even up to 20 people. Peru Ecocamp offers exclusive tours with a maximum of 14 people (7 domes for two people), and only with people who booked with us.
We are green! We operate reducing our environmental impact to an absolute minimum.
